“Made of the Bolesławiec clay” – the city calendar for 2022

“Made of the Bolesławiec clay” – this is the motto of the city calendar for 2022. Its pages present photos of various forms and decoration patterns of pottery products from the collection of 14 plants operating in Bolesławiec.

This group includes: “BOLESŁAWIEC” Ceramic Works, “Ceramika Artystyczna” Artistic Handicraft Cooperative, “Manufaktura w Bolesławcu”, Ceramika “Tyrcz”, Ceramika “Zebra”, Ceramika Bolesławiecka “Kalich”, Ceramika “Czaja-Sobieraj”, Ceramika Artystyczna “Kaola”, “Moja Faktoria”,”Lapis Lazuli” Ceramic Studio, “VRS Ceramics”, “Dalia” Artistic Ceramics, Ceramika Artystyczna “Maldur” and Pracownia Ceramiki “Bolesławiec” Zbigniew Forys.

All companies presented utility ceramics. The author of the photos is Grzegorz Matoryn, a photographer from Bolesławiec. The products shown on the calendar pages are part of the collection showing the achievements of local craftsmanship. They were all featured at the exhibition prepared by the Museum of Ceramics for last year’s Bolesławiec Ceramics Festival as part of the cross-border project: “Poland and Norway on the European Ceramics Route: inclusion of Bolesławiec and Porsgrunn in the international cooperation network of cities with traditions ceramics traditions”.

The exhibition and the accompanying catalogue present the output of 30 ceramic plants operating in the Bolesławiec area. The partners in the project are the Municipality of Bolesławiec, the Norwegian Telemark Museum and the European Ceramics Route. One of the components of the project is the renovation of the historic Pückler Palace and its adaptation as the new headquarters of the Museum of Ceramics in Bolesławiec.

Photo-charts with ceramic motifs are an original decoration of any interior, which is why the calendar is very popular not only among the inhabitants of our city. It decorates the walls of many important institutions and offices, e.g. in the office of the Speaker of the Senate of the Republic of Poland. As prof. Tomasz Grodzki, the Senate Speaker, says: “It has taken a prominent place in my office and is a real pleasure to the eye, with images of the exceptional Bolesławiec ceramics.”

It is worth remembering that “Bolesławiec ceramics” is one of the most recognisable Polish brands on European and global markets, and remains a glorious symbol of the city.
