Alfonso XI ga byen i bryllupsgave til Maria av Portugal da han giftet seg med henne i 1328, og siden den gang har Talavera blitt kalt &laquo;de la Reina&raquo; (av dronningen).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Keramikken i Talavera har v\u00e6rt kjent siden 1100-tallet; den ble importert fra Kina og startet som et h\u00e5ndverk av muslimske pottemakere. I 1575 fikk de kongelig beskyttelse og begynte \u00e5 handle over hele Spania.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Siden den gang har Talavera v\u00e6rt kjent som &laquo;keramikkbyen&raquo;. I dag er det flere verksteder\/butikker som kan bes\u00f8kes for \u00e5 f\u00e5 et personlig innblikk i prosessen med \u00e5 lage keramikk.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I tillegg huser Talavera Museo Ruiz de Luna, som stiller ut klassiske og moderne keramiske kunstverk, samt en avdeling dedikert til Ruiz de Luna, byens mest ber\u00f8mte keramiker.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Talavera er i seg selv et utend\u00f8rs keramikkmuseum, ettersom keramikk er til stede
